We don’t see things as they are,
we see them as we are.

Our First Session…

Before starting counselling sessions, we will have an initial assessment appointment giving us both a chance to get to know each other. During this session, I will try to understand the reasons why you are seeking counselling, focusing on your experiences and how they are affecting your daily mental health.

This helps me to get a sense of the kind of counselling you may require and gives you the chance to express your thoughts and emotions. The assessment session is also an opportunity for you to see whether you feel comfortable with counselling and would like to work with me.

Therapies I use to help you

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

Helps people learn how to identify and change destructive or disturbing thought patterns that have a negative influence on their behaviour and emotions.

  • Compassion-Focused Therapy

Especially appropriate for people who have high levels of shame and self-criticism and who have difficulty in feeling warmth toward, and being kind to, themselves or others.

  • Couples Counselling

This counselling therapy helps couples of all types recognise and resolve conflicts and improve their relationships.

  • Gestalt Therapy

Helpful for anxiety because it helps people focus on the present and what could be triggering anxiety in the present moment.

  • Humanistic Therapies

This therapy focuses on helping people free themselves from disabling assumptions and attitudes so they can live fuller lives.

  • Integrative

Integrative therapy is effective in helping people to manage a range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, and personality disorders.

  • Person-Centred Therapy

Aims to increase your self-esteem, learn from making mistakes, trust in yourself, create positive relationships and gain a clearer idea of who you are.

  • Psychodynamic Therapy

Focuses on building your internal resources to be able to deal with problems going forward and review early-life experiences, emotions and thoughts.

  • Solution Focused Brief Therapy

The focus is on your health rather than the problem, on strengths rather than weaknesses or deficits, and on skills, resources and coping abilities that help in reaching future goals.

I can’t thank you enough Shirley for all the help you gave me and for all the essential tools you have left with me. You truly saved and encouraged me during a very low point in my life, and partly thanks to you things are improving.
